August 1, 2016 - Advance Illinois applauds Governor Bruce Rauner for signing HB5729, the Postsecondary and Workforce Readiness (PWR) Act, into law on July 29, 2106. HB5729 is the culmination of years of work with an array of cross-sector partners and is a transformative step toward achieving Illinois' goal of 60% of Illinoisans having a postsecondary certificate or degree by the year 2025.

This comprehensive legislation establishes four new initiatives to smooth the transition for students from high school to college or career. It helps students avoid remedial education in community college with a iointly-designed fourth year of high school math instruction. It establishes new career and college

Press Release: NCI-Starved Rock Region 6th Illinois Community Designated

as an Illinois 60 by 25 Network Leadership Community

 

December 4, 2015 - LaSalle -- Despite state budget issues, work continues across the NCI-Starved Rock Region to ensure Illinois students will graduate high school ready with the knowledge and skills necessary to be successful in life after high school -- college and career. For several months now, educators, government, business and non-profit leaders in NCI-Starved Rock, which mirrors the IVCC district, have been organizing collaborative efforts to increase the proportion of adults in the region with the high-quality post-secondary degrees and industry credentials to 60% by the year 2025 ("Goal 2025"). The state average is now roughly at 42%.

Press Release: North Central Regional Betterment Receives TCI Healthcare Challenge Grant

 

September 12, 2016 - LaSalle -- NCRBC and its partners: St. Margaret’s Health, Starved Rock Associates for Vocational & Technical Education, and IVCC are pleased to announce that they have been awarded a $4,000 sub-grant from the 60 by 25 Leadership Network and TCI Healthcare. These funds will support the area’s first on-site healthcare career expo, called Healthcare 101.
